The Children of Israel and Me

I've had Prince of Egypt on my mind. The song "Deliver Us" has been playing on repeat in my inner ear as I am getting closer and closer to delivering my baby.

As I woke up to contractions the other night, I thought about all the things the end of this pregnancy would "deliver us" from.

The last two months of this pregnancy have been incredibly trying for me. Emotionally, physically, spiritually I am spent. I quite honestly don't enjoy or recognize myself sometimes. My family is suffering.
Elohim, God on high
Can you hear your people cry:
Help us now
This dark hour...
Deliver us
Hear our call
Deliver us
Lord of all
Remember us, here in this burning sand
Deliver us
There's a land you promised us
Deliver us to the promised land...

But God is a god of miracles. He who is aware of "every sparrow" is watching over us. I have never felt forsaken or alone. And I know just as he has sustained me through these last few months, he has marked the day and the hour that I will be delivered.

Many night's we've prayed
With no proof anyone could hear
In our hearts a hopeful song
We barely understood,
Now we are not afraid
Although we know there's much to fear
We were moving mountains
long before we knew we could

How merciful, how loving is our God. He made it possible for the children of Israel to pass through the Red Sea on dry ground. I know that he, too, can deliver me.
