A New Year!

I had an idea the other day when I was wallowing in the sadness that Christmas is over. I didn't want to take down the tree and get back to the hum-drum of life. So I thought of something that would give me a new lease on life.

I knew that Christmas decorations are marked way down after Christmas. So I thought, why not do some decorating for the new year? If I went to one of those fancy home decorating stores, not everything would be red and green and I could find some good deals.

Then I was also lamenting about how lame New Years Eve is when you have tiny babies. Plus I'm married to Ben Dilsaver so midnight is not really something we experience AWAKE around this house. So I thought a fun New Year's Eve tradition would be to have a fancy dinner to celebrate the new year coming in, and bidding goodbye to the old year. I saw salmon was on sale and made a special cake for dessert.

Our new "mantle." I bought all the gold stuff at the discount price, the silver stuff I already had.

I added these silvery-green leaves to the flowers we usually have on the table. I also rearranged all the furniture in the living room to make it "fresh" for the new year.

Our gold and silver wreath to go with the theme.

Nut Torte I have affectionately decided to call "Sunrise Cake" to celebrate the dawn of a new year.

Happy 2013!!! I'm not so sad about Christmas being over now that I have all this to put "magic" back into my home.

And a picture of my babies since Cheyenne asked me to take this picture today. Delaney is getting so big.
